When you attend an event like DragCon UK you absolutely know you’re in for plenty of fashion treats, it’s 50% of the mark after all, right Starlet?
We actually sat on the pink carpet itself to live stream the amazing outfits as the queens strutted passed and honestly, we screamed a lot!
Here are some of our absolute highlights for you to enjoy.
Charity Kase
When you see a bed flying toward you at full speed, your senses are immediately heightened let us tell you. This was basically like a 4D horror experience, at one point Charity managed to do a full 360 spin from within the bed and every single person in the room SCREAMED. We also love the fact that the vomit was rhinestoned, incredible.
Onyx
So Alien glamour is absolutely a weakness of ours and when we first caught sight of this look, we were living. The colour choices from the gown and gloves down to each little detail of the hair and accessories are simply divine and the lighting hit just right are Onyx floated down the pink carpet.
Jimbo
Look, we’re not ashamed to admit that we’re biased towards anything Jimbo does, we love that clown so much. Getting to see this beautiful black and white part mouse, part demon, part slutty clown moment in person didn’t for a second disappoint and there’s always a sense of joy when Jimbo walks by.
Ellie Diamond
We’re all big kids at heart so you can only imagine the childish glee that spread across our faces when we saw a giant pile of teddies coming toward us. It would be easy to have a Ross Matthews moment and throw the word “costumey” out into the world but let’s be honest, the way that Ellie Diamond wears this and works the subtle leg exposure, it’s fashion all the way.
Maddy Morphosis
When you wake up in the morning, you don’t generally think “Ah yes, I’ll be losing my sh*t over a head to toe ugly knit two-piece dress and crown today” but there we were doing exactly that. Maddy Morphosis really came to grab our attention, show us that beauty can be found in unconventional ideas and that a chunky knit is runway ready.
Kaos
As queer people we’re all drawn to a good bit of leather and a spiky or studded moment and we do love a bit of drama. Enter Kaos. The way this combines beauty, sexy, fetish, fashion and just a touch of The Black Parade is a work of art, as is the make-up to be honest, just all-round incredible.
Cheddar Gorgeous
Glitter and androgyny? Count us all the way in. When someone finds a way to splice a gown and a suit showing off their (remarkably firm) chest then pairs it with a fun little cane and hat combo we have any choice other than to love it. Cheddar truly is a walking work of art and lights up every room.
Océane Aqua-Black
Something we always have time for is a big pop of colour and a whole lot of drama, thankfully for us Océane was serving exactly that on the pink carpet. The silhouette was everything we needed and combining this with such a wonderfully loud print was just pure perfection. You know when a garment reflects the joyful and fabulous person wearing it? Very that.
Utica
If you ever have the chance to witness Utica on any type of runway, get yourself there in a heartbeat. There is such a sense of polish and perfection to every creative piece of wearable art that Utica designs and this was no exception. Like some kind of futuristic daffodil come to life to slay the ballroom scene, a dream to have seen up close.
Gisele Lullaby
You wanna know what’s really sexy and absolutely serves on a pink carpet? Red Velvet. The shapes, the zips, the stoning, the colour, every single thing about this outfit perfectly compliments Gisele and screams “I won, obviously”. We just know she could have strutted straight onto the stage and gave us a girl group moment in this too, so stunning.
Tia Kofi
Naturally we’re already Tia Kofi stans so even if she’d came down the pink carpet in that ice-cream outfit we would have screamed, but instead we got one of THE best looks we saw all weekend. It’s no secret that Tia is a massive Doctor Who fan and truly you can see the passion that went into this tenth doctor inspired design from the high-heeled baseball shoes to the rhinestoned matching tie. Everything is just so right about this full look and those long gorgeous legs are serving!
Icesis Couture
We know what you’re thinking – “Duh, of course Icesis would have one of the best looks” and you’re right, it was absolutely zero shock, and that’s not a bad thing. The platinum flames going all the way up the dress and into this futuristic weird and wonderful headpiece/glasses combo is exactly the quality we’ve all come to know and love from Icesis. Slaying yet again and feeding us all.
Le Fil
Now for our favourite headpiece of the day it has to be the stunning Le Fil with this wonderfully sculpted hair serving beauty, drama and culture. We’re getting a total Princess by day and popstar by night vibe from this outfit and we love every bit of it. Gold just feels right on Le Fil, truly a treasure with a wonderful aura.
Vanity Milan
Once every while someone comes along and truly takes your breath away, that’s Vanity Milan. If you have never been in the presence of this absolute sensation, find a way. Before you even notice the outfit, the smile will light up your day and the make-up will leave you gasping for air, she is STUNNING. Do we honestly even need to write about the dress, you can see it right? Gagged.
Special mentions
So first things first we have to talk about Jinkx Monsoon who after being left without any luggage simply popped on their regular clothing, wrote a little note and casually strolled down the runway like a true icon.
The most fun on the pink carpet without a doubt though had to be Heidi N Closet! Of course she was out here looking cute but honestly the way she served up spins, dips, kicks and total stupidity every inch of the way was more enjoyable than anything she could have been wearing. What an absolute joy!
