Once upon a time we bumped into a tall, fabulously glittery goth queer at drag con and were absolutely stunned, let us acquaint you.
GURL: First things first; introductions, who the hell are ya?
Paul: I am drag artist from Birmingham and a founder of the Dragpunk Family – a bunch of us who organise events and perform, and wanna push the boundaries of drag. Like the rest of them, I’m a little bit alt, weird and different!
GURL: How long have you been performing?
Paul: For around four or five years now.
GURL: What’s been your favourite performance so far?
Paul: I reckon my Oogie Boogie one as I made the outfit, got to be an iconic character which was cute and I LOVE The Nightmare Before Christmas film! https://www.instagram.com/tv/B0L3pxwnq7E/?igshid=5kgnexm85547
GURL:Amazing, love the work on that outfit!
GURL: Show us one of your most fabulous looks?
Paul:

GURL: C’mon Teletubby, teleport us to mars <3
GURL: Who are your biggest idols?
Paul: In drag: Cheddar Gorgeous, Anna Phylactic, Dharma Gheddon, Marnie Scarlet and Birmingham’s legendary Twiggy. Out of drag it is makeup industry guru David Horne, and my childhood hero Bruce Lee!
GURL: Tell us something absolutely random about yourself?
Paul: Oh god. Hm. I make creepy jewellery out of doll parts. I think they’re cute.
GURL: The perfect gift for any occasion if you ask us!
GURL: Any advice for someone wanting to embrace the art of drag?
Paul: You go for it! Go and watch as much drag as you can – not Dragrace, but actually local drag. You’ll meet people and learn a lot. And be bold: go out and dress how YOU wish. The confidence comes in the doing of it. Practice practice practice and enjoy the journey.
GURL: One song to be your anthem, go!
Paul: I’ll be honest, gimme a finely pieced together ABBA megamix and I’m set to go.
GURL: Honestly, can you really beat a good ABBA mix after a few vodkas?
GURL: If you had to recommend us a fellow fierce entertainer, who should we hit up?
Paul:: My Dragpunk Family! Or check out Clare Successfully. I’ve been watching them for the last few years and I have so much faith and love for them just being them, and being so utterly creative and switched on.
GURL: We just did a little interview with Clare, a fabulous creature indeed. You can follow the amazing DragPunk family >>> here <<<
GURL: Finally, what’s your fave design from our collection?
Paul: Oh I adore the word daddy. Hearing it, saying it. So any of that collection though the Daddy Pride tee is CUTE.
GURL: Daddy is a lifestyle, one of our favourite words and a staple of GURL, full collection available right here!
Go show this fantastically queer individual some love!
