We know what you’re thinking, it’s the middle of summer and talking about Christmas already may seem like madness to a lot of people.
Well quite frankly we’ve spoken to Santa and any objections will result in your halls being decked with beige ornaments, broken baubles and the itchiest tinsel we can find in your grans loft.
This post is somewhere between an announcement and a warning for a tour you don’t want to miss, so honestly we’re just being generous and giving you an early gift.
The Show
For our fellow drag fans, be it specifically drag race or beyond, you will no doubt be aware of the brilliant minds that are BenDeLaCreme & Jinkx Monsoon and the annual festivities of their holiday show. Well we’re very pleased to say that for the 7th year in a row they are making a triumphant return. This time, they’re breaking their previous record and going on a casual 33 date trip around Northern America, proving that camp comedy and stupendous stupidity will serve you well outside of reality TV competitions.
Over the last 7 years we’ve witnessed Jinkx and DeLa go on some absolutely crazy adventures that include time travel (a la ‘A Christmas Carol’) with a wacky multi-versal twist, defeating AI overlords trying to replace them, getting trapped in a meta world of their own creation, exploring post-Pandemic depression via a talking peppermint candy puppet and many other outrageous activities. Now we can’t confirm which festive rabbit hole this year’s show will dive down exactly, but there’s no doubt it’ll be another over-the-top camp spectacle with non-stop side-splitting gags, fresh and funky songs, heartfelt storytelling, thrilling dance numbers, and iconic costumes.
The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show is co-written and co-created by BenDeLaCreme and Jinkx Monsoon, directed by BenDeLaCreme, produced by BenDeLaCreme Presents (a company comprised of producers BenDeLaCreme, Kevin Heard, Gus Lanza, and Associate Producer Jin Moon). The 2023 iteration of The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show even won the 2024 Queerty Award for “Best Live Theatre,” beating out productions on Broadway and the West End, that’s just how amazing it is.
We also heard that queen of comedy herself Melissa McCarthy saw the show and responded by saying “What a delight to see such genius performers and beautiful and hilarious humans. Now my holiday season can really begin!”. Honestly if that doesn’t make you wanna see the show, what will?
With successful solo shows such as “Terminally Delightful”, “Cosmos” and “Ready To Be Committed” under DeLa’s belt and Jinkx recently smashing both her roles in Doctor Who and Chicago you just know they’re both on top of their game right now and this will be an amazing tour!
