It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Sub-Radio here at Gurl Global, so when we receive an email allowing us an exclusive listen to their latest single 48 hours before release, you can imagine the extremely masculine (yeah right) squeal that followed.
That’s right, our favourite queer friendly power pop kings are making 2025 their bitch and releasing track number 4 from their upcoming album.
How many times have we listened to “Nothing’s Broken” already you make ask, well the honest answer would expose too much, so we plead the fifth. What we can offer you instead is a little catch up with the band’s frontman, a bisexual legend who proves that good things do certainly come in small packages, especially one’s that can rock a crop top.
Interview with Adam Bradley (Lead singer, queer icon, silly man)
Do you have a favourite line from the fabulous new single “Nothing’s Broken”?
I have a soft spot for the line that shouts out “Silk Chiffon,” in my Spotify Wrapped for 3 consecutive years and no hope of slowing down. “I see you singing to the chorus of Silk Chiffon, and my hands in your hair when the lights come on”
What was the writing process like for this particular single?
Matt had this really pretty demo kicking around for a while, and we fleshed it out into a full song at a writing retreat we held to kick off the album cycle – this would’ve been 2 years ago now. When we took it to our producer Neal Avron he told us what we’d already kinda been thinking, which is that it could be twice as long and probably should be. In like 24 hours Matt turned around this gorgeous unfolding intro that we then folded into the second verse, and we extended the bridge and just generally built it into this big beautiful thing it is now.
Can you tell use about the artwork on this and your other recent singles? It seems to be lining up together to create a bigger picture.
It sure does, doesn’t it? 🙂

How was the recent UK and East coast tour? Any favourite memories?
All these shows have been lovely in their own way. Something that’s been very evident on the Sunrise City tour is how much creativity and art have been inspired by the album (I say in a very humble way). We’ve seen custom clothes, shoes, bracelets, hats, signs, entire binders full of artwork, an entire miniature recreation of our rehearsal space (INCREDIBLE), so many handwritten notes and thoughtful gifts. It’s really touching.
What should we be on the look out for next in the word of Sub-Radio?
Full album will be out this spring. And we’ve got very exciting announcements coming in the next couple weeks!
Now that we’re nice and hyped up, it’s about time we got to the single itself.
