We aren’t exactly strangers to a drag show, so it’s only natural for our curiosity to peak when we hear there’s something new on the horizon.
It’s also no secret that the drag promotor scene has struggled for a little while now, so we’re very excited about the wonderful Queerdo Events and what they’re about to bring.
Naturally we just had to check in with the fabulous owners for a little interview, so without further ado, let’s see what they’re all about!
Jamie Warren
Introductions are important, who’s behind Queerdo events?
J: I’m menswear design graduate, lover tiny dogs, real house wives, Pokemon and German techno.
Give us a little fun fact about you!
J: I’ve been on all 5 major land masses in the world.
What inspired you to create a new company together?
J: We have worked together for 6 years! We are Bonnie and Clyde!
We balance each other out! We can be hand bags at dawn one second and laughing about superstore (tv show) the next.
What makes you different to other events companies beginning to appear?
J: I have 6 years events experience, over 20 years of customer service, the thing I enjoy the most is seeing queer people be themselves and be with like minded people! So who else better to run drag shows then me and Mutha.
Could you tell us more about your open and honest approach?
J: We explain out ticket ticket prices were the money going, we’ll answer or face any questions asked, the fan bases has lost trust with drag shows so we want to gain that trust back.
If you could change one thing about drag events n the UK, what would it be?
J: Aircon in Veunes or how far smoking area is away from the sound desk.
You’re launching in the north of the UK, something that rarely happens, did you always plan to stick close to your roots before expanding?
J: Manchester is my home! I’ve lived here longer then I lived in Newcastle now so it was important for me to start this event on my home turf!
Give us a teaser, what should we expect from our first taste of Queerdos?
J: a safe space, a chance to forgot what’s happening in the world for a few hours, an escape from constructs of the mind.
Do you have plans in motion for the rest of 2024?
J: I’m super excited for 2024 and beyond I have a million ideals and can’t wait to show the world! Get in loser we’re going shopping!
Mutha Tucka
Introductions are important, who’s behind Queerdo events?
MT: I’m a drag queen who has been working and living in the north east over the past ten years and had the luck of touring all over the UK, Europe and America hosting some of the biggest drag acts in the world.
Give us a little fun fact about you!
MT: I’m a huge care bear fan and have over 100 Care Bears in all shapes and sizes
What inspired you to create a new company together?
MT: We’ve worked in the industry for so long and saw the huge gap in the market for something a bit different and we are ready to bring back exciting drag events!
What makes you different to other events companies beginning to appear?
MT: I think our experience in the industry really gives us an advantage. We have seen how drag audiences have changed since it became more mainstream and what they want from a show has changed!
Could you tell us more about your open and honest approach?
MT: Like Jamie said, an audience deserves to know what they are spending their hard earned cash on, so pricing transparency is really important! The audience and the acts are our main focus, so we want to make sure they know too.
If you could change one thing about drag events in the UK, what would it be?
MT: Since I started with Shade many many moons ago the event scene has changed a lot, I’d like to take it back to that kind of feel where anything can happen, more spontaneous debauchery!
You’re launching in the north of the UK, something that rarely happens, did you always plan to stick close to your roots before expanding?
MT: Newcastle is very special to me, it’s been my drag home for many years! It’s such an incredible scene and community, and Manchester was the first place I went clubbing as a very young homo! So it makes sense really.
Give us a teaser, what should we expect from our first taste of Queerdos?
MT: Something different, something fun and above all something Queer as fuck, the venues are incredible so it’s exciting to be there too!
Do you have plans in motion for the rest of 2024?
MT: So many! I’m currently finishing writing my solo tour which we will be touring soon! And we have plans to be all over the UK very soon! Soon we’ll all be the queerdos mister!
The launch events
So you’ve met the team behind the events, but what exactly are they planning we hear you asking?
Well there are two fantastic launch events lined up in both Manchester and Newcastle for all of you fellow northern folks to come and enjoy!
We’re going to be celebrating all things drag, queer and quizzical with Mutha’s mind-games; which basically means an evening of wonderful drunken shenanigans (note: can also be enjoyed sober).
The Lancaster legend herself, fresh from Drag Race UK and Vs The World season 2, Gothy Kendoll will be attending both events to bring that gorgeous glow up to us all and turn up the party. For our Manchester lot, the stunning Down Under doll and incredibly talented finalist, Flor will no doubt put on a wonderful show and serve some beauty. Those of you attending in Newcastle will be joined by All Stars finalist and wonderfully silly woman Miz Cracker, who we just know is gonna have us in tears of laughter all night.
You can expect a quiz, games, performances, dancing and a whole lot of fun!
(Trust us, we know Mutha and she doesn’t disappoint)

Tickets, we need tickets!
We’re quietly confident that you’ll want to attend at least one of these lovely launch events so we should probably point you toward the tickets.
