GURL: First things first; introductions, who the hell are ya?
Mark Anthony: My name is Mark Anthony. I’m a Drag King and boylesque performer based in London but performing all around the UK and internationally.
GURL: How long have you been performing?
Mark Anthony: This is my fourth year of performing as Mark Anthony
GURL: What’s been your favourite performance so far?
Mark Anthony: My favourite performance, or at least the one that meant the most, was at the final of Mr Boylesque UK 2019. I performed two acts and a runway and managed to win the title. It means a huge amount to me because as a trans performer, being the first UK Mr Boylesque sets a really important precedent, and it has given me a greater platform to be able to represent people like me.
GURL:We love how this starts out with a violin and turns into a hilarious yet totally sexy strip tease!
GURL: Show us one of your most fabulous looks?

GURL: Who are your biggest idols?
Mark Anthony: Cabaret is my life and passion so my biggest idols are the burlesque and drag performers I get to spend time and work with.
GURL: Tell us something absolutely random about yourself?
Mark Anthony: I have a completely wasted degree from Oxford University in Classical Archaeology and Ancient History. My childhood dream was to be Indiana Jones!
GURL: I think we all have a wasted degree kicking about (we certainly do haha). You should definitely do an Indiana Jones number and live the fantasy.
GURL: Any advice for someone wanting to embrace the art of drag?
Mark Anthony: Firstly, go to drag shows. Support and watch your local performers because you’ll learn so much and find yourself an awesome community to be part of. Secondly just let yourself be creative and find your own expression – learning from TV shows is great but drag doesn’t have rules. You don’t need live up to someone else’s expectations of what it should be.
GURL: Very well said.
GURL: One song to be your anthem, go!
Mark Anthony: Jump by Van Halen. I listen to this song whenever I feel scared to do something. Sometimes you just have to jump in!
GURL: Can’t argue with a catch classic:
GURL: If you had to recommend us a fellow fierce entertainer, who should we hit up?
Mark Anthony: I think it’s general consensus that my partner Lilly SnatchDragon is one of the fiercest. She’s incredible and she inspires me on and off-stage. You should also know Chiyo, London’s fiercest drag Prinx, and Lolo Brow, who pretty much personifies that word.
GURL: We shall be hitting these up straight away, was blessed to see Chiyo at Dragworld 2019!
GURL: Finally, what’s your fave design from our collection?
Mark Anthony: I love the Butch Queen design. I’m trans and non-binary so I blur the lines between masculinity and femininity just by existing, and I think it’s a beautiful place to be!
GURL: We do love ourselves a good blurred gender line, you do it perfectly <3
